Are They Worth It? The DVDs of the Internet #8 - Ridgway Films' Earthbound

As it usually goes, I had planned to a different review next but ended up watching another DVD that inspired me to do it first. At this rate I’m terrified I may never actually get through all of these since I keep finding new ones to add. However the subject matter alone meant there was no way I was going to ignore this one.
This is Ridgway Film’s adaptation of Earthbound.
Are They Worth It? The DVDs of the Internet #7 - Haunted Investigators Season 1

During the last review I mentioned that the next DVD set I would be taking a look at was, let’s say not too impressive. I actually am not looking at the one I originally had in mind when I wrote those words, but oh man this one fits the bill. This is a set I had no intention of looking at when I first made the list of DVDs to cover, but curiosity got the best of me and I just had to take a look.
This is Haunted Investigators Season 1.
Our Top 10 Movies of 2011

I remember talking to Kim this past February, right around the time that Big Momma's: Like Father Like Son came out. We both agreed that after viewing that film, there was really no point in even watching any more movies this year because that one was never EVER going to be topped. Through sheer happenstance more movies were viewed and I think we were both shocked to find Big Momma's slipping further and further down our lists. We were absolutely shocked to discover that now that the year is through, that film did not find it's way on to either of our lists! So you know it had to have been a great year if we had to let that one slide.

Shawn's Top 10 Games of 2011

Although 2011 definitely qualifies as a great year for games, it doesn’t quite stand out as much for me as the last couple of years. It may be the most consistent one though. Aside from a slow patch in August, there was almost always something new coming out I was interested in playing, no matter the time of year. That being said, I did originally have 23 games that I would feel perfectly ok putting on this list and it was certainly not easy narrowing them down to just 10. Charts were made, formulas were used and hours of sleep were lost, but I think I have my final list. I better anyway, because clearly I published this shit.
Oh and let’s get this out of the way right now – you’re going to notice some pretty clear omissions here. Namely Dark Souls and yes, Skyrim. There’s a simple answer why – despite owning both, I haven’t sank enough time into either to form a full opinion. Both seem great though ok? So we’re cool then? Awesome.

Are They Worth It? The DVDs of the Internet #6 - Awesome Video Games Volume 1

If all goes according to plan (which when it comes to this site I find things never ever do) then you should be seeing a whole slew of these features going up in the coming weeks. Granted the speed right now is one entry every 2 – 4 weeks, which makes it very very easy to improve on the scheduling. Let’s get to the latest entry with a DVD I’ve actually been wanting to talk about for a good long while now.
This is Awesome Video Games Volume 1.
Are They Worth It? The DVDs of the Internet #5 - Cinemassacre's Cinematic Catastrophes

So yes this feature has taken a bit of a back seat but with all the video game releases coming out lately (I would likely cry if I knew just how much money I’ve spent in November) I’ve been struggling to even keep up there, and I’m still about 5 reviews behind with those. Not to mention the newly acquired means to produce video content, something I’m working on in the hopes of having a glut of content to upload. All this to say, the DVD review feature has indeed taken an unfortunate back seat.
BUT NO LONGER! Starting now we’re going to get this thing right back on track. I have a huge backlog of stuff to check out and, thanks to Black Friday, more on the way. We’re going to kick off this second round with a DVD I actually just received in the mail a few days ago. This is Cinemassacre’s Cinematic Catastrophes.
Are They Worth It? The DVDs of the Internet #4 - The Happy Video Game Nerd Volume 1

Originally I had started writing a different review for the fourth installment of this series however during that time I popped in the DVD of the Happy Video Game Nerd with the intent of watching perhaps one or two videos and then moving on for the time being. I ended up watching 10 episodes right there before shutting off the DVD. Now although that may sound like I'm telling you everything you need to know right up front....I have no clever end for that. Shit I really am just telling you everything you need to know right up front.
I've always been familiar with the Happy Video Game Nerd and yet for some reason I had never actually watched any of his videos. When I started to do this feature I put his DVD on the list and decided to hold off on watching any of his stuff until I got a hold of the DVD. I'd always heard good things and the concept itself is really solid.
So let's take a look at the first DVD from the Angry Nerd's positive Counterpart - Volume 1 of the Happy Video Game Nerd.
Under the Radar Video Reviews #2 - Barney's Hide and Seek
This is the second installment of the Under the Radar video reviews that I started back in early 2009. I'm a little happier with this one than the first one, but just you wait until episode 3. That's when the magic really starts!
The TAA Playlist #7 - Super Mario Bros. 2
Here's one I've loved ever since I was a kid and was unhealthily obsessed with Super Mario Bros. 2. It's such a pleasant and peaceful? Plus have you ever actually put it on to fall asleep to? Heaven man.
Are They Worth It? The DVDs of the Internet #3 - The Irate Gamer Volume 1

This seems to be the one people have wanted me to get to, and by people, I mean like two people I talked to and one of them might not have actually said anything about it, I don’t remember. I’m actually more eager to talk about the two more recent volumes of the Irate Gamer DVDs, but in order to do that we have to get this first volume out of the way, so why don’t we do exactly that?
